Are You In or OUT?
The other day I had the pleasure of interviewing author, business owner and networker extraordinaire Terilee Harrison about why she wrote her current book 'High Level Networking' on the MYBC Virtual Bookstore Authors Series and we got into a deep discussion on how you have to be 'IN or OUT' of the networking process to build the business you are going to thrive in for years to come.
The analogy or story I shared with Terilee is about a fisherman and how his lifeline is his 'NET' in business and how he weaves the strength into this NET which will allow him to 'WORK' over and over to cast, to haul in, and to honour the bounty found in the sea. There are lots of fishes in the sea is what they tell us, though are they all good for the Fisherman's Plan?
The Fisherman 'Net' ~ 'Working' Plan!
1) What type of fish is currently in the waters this time of year?
3) What fish am I willing let go back to the sea for next time?
4) How much time will I spend at sea to catch and to WORK my plan to find the right fish?
5) Back on land, have I set the standard to what is a 'good or bad' fish as I go through my NETS?
6) And finally, now that I have casted and achieved the best fish out there....
How will I honour this WORK of gathering this bounty of the right fish and help them get into the places who will see their value and my value as the fisherman connected to the catch of the best fish out there?
The photo taken are of my feet on the bathmat brought this story to mind to share, as you see on the wet footprint on the left I was all in to the process of drying off... present on the mat, and firm in stance and the footprint on the right I missed the mat, soaked my bathroom floor and made bigger mess lost my focus of the moment.
Are you in focus on the 'NETS' you need to create before you hit the high seas or are you out of focus and 'WORKING' to haul in anything that comes your way?
